Nearly every student who plans a year ends up behind on part of it, and a backlog is the normal outcome of a normal term, not a personal failing. What makes it worse is that most planners handle it by silently pushing everything forward, so the gap compounds quietly until the syllabus is simply too big for the calendar. When a planned block gets skipped, CapCompass doesn't quietly delete it. The chapter stays queued and moves toward the front of the next available slot.
A brand-new student has no backlog worth clearing, so this mode is off by default. Once you're behind, you turn it on and the week rebuilds around catching up before moving ahead.
You don't have to manually re-plan after a bad week. CapCompass re-sequences the remaining chapters against the time left, so one missed week doesn't require you to redo the whole plan by hand.
This is the part a backlog actually needs. Each chapter can be set to full coverage, to its key parts only, or skipped, and CapCompass shows an estimate of the marks that choice puts within reach. A student with two months and half a syllabus left is making that trade whether or not an app helps them see it.
When the work left is bigger than the calendar, CapCompass doesn't hand you a warning and a schedule you can't finish. It trims to the highest-scoring version that does fit: the heaviest chapters lead, question counts drop to their working minimums, and the low-value tail is parked as optional. Then it tells you what it did, names the parked sub-topics chapter by chapter, and says how many extra hours a day would bring them back.
Backlog handling is not exam-specific. It works the same on a CBSE, ICSE, ISC or Maharashtra HSC board syllabus as it does on JEE, NEET, MHT CET or the SAT, and on whatever combination of them you have set up.
